Eating Out with Diabetes: How to Make Smart Choices

Food is the foremost thing in these days. It makes you healthy, energetic and on over intake it causes a devastating health condition. Due to changes in the food quality and dietary intake like taking high fat content food, High sugary food and beverages, body is not getting enough nutrition to meet the needs of the body. With these reasons it leading to various type of diseases like Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypothyroidism, changes in lipid levels in the body and Obesity.
Some food should be avoided in diseased state because of its contradict effects on the body like high carbohydrates may leads to increased sugar levels in the body, high salt content food causes increase in blood pressure, Hypothyroidism is due to deficient of iodine etc.
However, we cannot control the disease occurrence when it comes by genetics but by concentrating on the food which we take to control the prevalence and incidence of diseases.
For diabetes, there are food we can take for balancing the sugar levels in the blood.
They are:
  1. Non-starchy vegetables like broccoli, spinach, cucumber, and bell peppers. 
  2. Starchy vegetables like corn, green peas, carrots, and yams. 
  3. Protein like lean meats, chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, nuts, beans, lentils, and tofu. 
  4. Fruits: Eat fresh, frozen, canned, or dried fruits without added sugar or syrup like  
  5. Whole grains: Eat whole grains like whole wheat, brown rice, barley, quinoa, and oats. 
  6. Low-fat or non-fat dairy like milk, yogurt, and cheese. 
  7. Eat oily fish like salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, or tuna at least 2 to 3 times per week. 
  8. Sweet potatoes are a good alternative to white potatoes because they release sugar more slowly and don't raise blood sugar as much. 
  9. Almonds are a great source of magnesium and can help with blood sugar control, weight management, and heart health. 
 
By considering this in our food, it will be very helpful to supply nutrition according to body need. By maintaining effective medical adherence along with this food incorporation in the diet, it will make the maintains the normal blood sugar levels.
